An alternative to Denim is the versatile yet classic 100% cotton Corduroy in lots of different shades. This is a strong durable fabric ideal for fabric for all the dressmakers out there. You can make trousers, skirts and jackets. For all the crafters it's also ideal for cushions, bags and upholstery! The lines on corduroy are known as wales and they get the number of wales from how many ridges there are in an inch. We have in stock 8, 14 and 21 wale in a variety of colours and all available in good wide widths making it more economical to use. Even if you don't have a project in mind these Corduroys are a versatile addition to your fabric collection.

We all know Velvet as a soft, luxurious fabric that is perfect for creating homewares such as cushions and curtains as well as being a beautiful dressmaking fabric. Imagine that Christmas Day dress or jacket that only you have. Velvet has an elegant drape and a unique soft and shiny appearance due to the characteristics of the short pile fibres. The colours we stock are jewel like in appearance.
Choose from 100% Cotton Velvet at the great price of £8.49mt 112cm / 45" wide or Crushed Velvet at £3.99mt / 150cm / 59" wide.
In the large majority of cases, Crushed Velvets are stretchy, either because they contain elastane or because their base is knitted and not woven. They are generally made out of polyester.
Both Cotton and Polyester Velvets are suitable for Upholstery projects due to their durability.

We have recently added these new floral 100% cotton fabrics to our ever-growing range of lovely cotton poplin fabric. This cotton is smooth which makes it easy to handle. This is useful for sewers of all abilities. Being easy to wash and crease resistant, these fabrics are perfect for dressmaking. Let's face it we all want easy care, everyday clothing and the less ironing we create ourselves the better.
The colours are very crisp and clear. They would all make lovely summer dresses with matching headband or face mask, this is all the rage at the moment. Here at Malbers Fabrics online store we have a beautiful range of Polyester Cotton fabrics, 65% polyester and 35% cotton. This range is a very good weight and quality which is easy to handle and sew. It is crease resistant and washable on a low temperature.
We have a choice of 9 different colours in a lovely floral range and also a choice of matching stripes in 5 colours all at a reasonable price of £3.49 per metre and 112cm/45" wide. If you're not sure about which  colour is right for your project we do fabric samples so you can look at them first.
These fabrics are ideal for clothing, craft projects and home decor. As many of us are making face masks you could use floral on one side and stripe on another. Maybe even make a matching dress or skirt, the possibilities are endless!!

NEW IN STORE. To add to our collection of John Louden fabrics are Bright Fluttering Butterflies. They are printed on a new soft touch 100% cotton which has a good weight of approx 150gsm. They are gorgeous and bright to look at in delightful colourways. There is green with bright multi coloured butterflies and sky blue with multi coloured butterflies. These are ideal for dressmaking, home decor, bunting, and lots of craft projects. They are so lovely you will feel you want to buy them even if you don't know what you need them for at the moment!

We sell 100% cotton velvet which is of beautiful quality in a lovely soft matte finish. It is non stretch and of a heavy weight.

We recommend dry cleaning for this product.

Riley Blake Fabrics are now stocked at Malbers Fabrics online store.
Riley Blake fabrics were founded in 2008 from a Utah based fabric design company.
They are a versitile, fun, modern design which are a joy to work with. A fabric very popular with quilters. The different colour palettes offering a fresh, vibrant finish. These fabrics are also a popular choice for dressmaking and are lovely for home decor. The 100% cotton is of a great quality which is delightful to work with. The colours are bright and vivid. We have Wildflower Boutique in 2 different designs and 2 colours in each. The first design comes in Navy or Teal and the second design comes in Green or Teal. They are best washed cold and tumbled dried on low. Please take a look as I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Here at Malbers Fabrics we have a great range of Denim from lightweight pale and dark blue, soft to the touch, ideal for dressmaking right through to a heavy denim suitable for all crafting projects and furnishing projects.
Also a lovely stone washed medium denim which is slightly brushed and so on trend for this season. All come in wide widths to make them more economical.
Try mixing a soft denim fabric with a delicate floral or a dark denim with a strong bold primary coloured fabric. You can even pull off the "double denim" look if you get the shades right.
